About Rob
I’m an arts marketing consultant, and I work with arts organizations, artists and businesses working in the cultural sector to build audiences, develop their brands, and communicate effectively with the public.
I’m particularly passionate about socially-engaged art and cultural projects that seek to educate, inspire and build our communities. I funnel much of this interest into my role as the editor of Art Threat, a blog on political art and cultural policy.
Current clients of mine include the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, a ten-day cultural celebration that welcomes 80,000 music lovers each summer; Cinema Politica, an international network of independent film exhibition sites; and Indie Ink, a collaborative, Canadian book publisher. In the past I’ve worked organizations as diverse as the National Film Board and the Norwegian Refugee Council.
I enjoy speaking when I have the opportunity, presenting at conferences and to organizations on marketing, fundraising and social media.
I recently moved to Vancouver, having survived a 40-month stint in the frigid yet fascinating Canadian prairies. A born Maritimer who spent many years in Montreal, I’ve been gradually (and unintentionally) making my way west for over a decade.
When the marketing cap comes off, you’re likely to find me at the ultimate field, cooking vegetarian fare, or staring at the shrimp in my aquarium.
